LSU College of Human Sciences & Education to Celebrate IPSE Day

BATON ROUGE, LA — LSU College of Human Sciences & Education and LSU Integrative Community Studies (ICS) will celebrate Inclusive Postsecondary Education (IPSE) Day on May 1, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Huey P. Long Field House Ballroom.
LSU’s IPSE Day celebration will include:
- Proclamation signed by Governor Landry read by Liam Doyle, Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Disability Affairs
- Round table discussions covering relationship skill building, emergency preparedness, financial literacy, hospitality/hotel management, front store/pharmacy management and simulations with ICS community partners
- Volunteer recognition
- New student signing for the incoming class of ICS students
RSVP to IPSE DayIPSE Day is a nationally recognized day to raise awareness and spread the word about postsecondary education options for students with intellectual disabilities. There are more than 7,000 colleges and universities in the United States, and around 350 of them have options for students with intellectual disabilities. Inclusive postsecondary education programs create opportunities for students with and without intellectual disabilities to go to college together.
LSU ICS is a two-year certificate program designed to provide individuals with intellectual disabilities a life-changing university experience. The primary goal is to prepare students for independent living, provide competitive employment competencies and build interpersonal communication skills.
