May 11, 2026
BATON ROUGE, LA — The Louisiana Board of Regents honored two LSU Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education students for their commitment to shaping the future of Louisiana’s students at the sixth annual Future Educator Honor Roll on May 5, 2026, at the historic Old State Capitol.
This prestigious event recognizes the best of the best among Louisiana's upcoming teachers. Each college or school of education in the state nominated top future educators who are in their residency. LSU students honored include:
Ameyah Johnson, Master of Arts in Teaching - Elementary
Johnson has spent her residency year in a second grade classroom where she has created lessons that include student interests, presented a kind yet firm classroom control, expressed clear expectations and created an environment where children can be children, not robots. She is a natural teacher who the students respond to positively.

Mia Scherer, General and Special Education Grades 1-5
Scherer has demonstrated strong instructional skills, thoughtful lesson planning and a consistent ability to connect evidence-based practices to classroom application throughout her preparation program. Her positive disposition, work ethic and commitment to the teaching profession reflect the qualities of a future educator who will make a meaningful impact in her school community.
