LSU School of Kinesiology to Hold Free Summer Camp

Rising 6th and 7th graders can apply for the CHSE ChangeMakers Camp, a free LSU summer camp experience where students can experience LSU, stay healthy, and learn as part of the LSU School of Kinesiology research!
Cost & Options
- Morning camp (8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.): free of charge
- Optional afternoon camp: $50/week per participant; full-day option available
- Up to $140 travel mileage reimbursement ($0.70 per mile for up to 200 miles)
Who can join?
- Rising 6th and 7th graders
- Generally healthy
- Able to attend in-person camps at LSU's Baton Rouge campus
- Has reliable transportation in summer 2026
- Available to attend three camp weeks + two additional assessment visits
- Not participating in other health/fitness-related summer camps during program period
Camp Groups
Participants will be randomly assigned to:
- ProudMe Camp: focuses on fitness, sports, nutrition education and healthy living
- Academic Camp: focuses on academic enrichment and school readiness

Cohort 1 Schedule
Assessments (2 on-campus visits): June 8 - 12 and July 20 - 24
Camp Weeks (8 a.m. - 1 p.m. or 5 p.m.):
- June 15 - 19
- June 29 - July 3
- July 13 - 17
Remote Activities Daily on:
- June 22 - 26
- July 6 - 10
- July 20 - 24
Cohort 2 Schedule

Camp Weeks (8 a.m. - 1 p.m. or 5 p.m.):
- June 22 - 26

Daily Schedule
- Drop-off: 7:30 a.m.
- Morning Pick-up: 1:00 p.m.
- Full Day Pick-up: 5:00 p.m.
- Snacks and lunches provided
