Dr. Ashley Bowers is currently an Associate Professor of Professional Practice in
Sport Administration. She has over 15 years of experience in higher education and
serving the sport management academic community. At the department level, she has
administrative experience in serving as program coordinator for sport management and
graduate studies. Through her various roles as program coordinator, she has experience
with the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation, having served as project leader
and site reviewer.
She has a true passion for teaching in the higher education setting. She has taught
over 20 courses at the graduate and undergraduate level and has engaged students in
developing sport-related events, including raising funds for local and national charities.
Throughout her years in academia, she has been the recipient of several honors/awards,
including Outstanding Doctoral Student, Southeastern College of Nursing and Health
Science Award for Excellence in Service, and was the recipient of the B.C. Purcell
Endowed Professorship in Kinesiology and Health Studies.
