Welcome Week: Exams for Incoming Freshmen

During the Fall 2022 Welcome Week, the LSU Testing Center will offer Placement exams, the Accuplacer NexGen Writing exam, and the Michigan exam (international students only). Please see the chart below for additional details about each of the exams, including dates/times the exams will be available.

Placement Exams: Algebra, Calculus, French, German, Latin, Spanish, Trigonometry.
Accuplacer NexGen Writing Exam: an English placement exam that is required for students who do not have English ACT/SAT Scores.
Michigan Exam: an English exam for international students.

Schedule an Exam During Welcome Week:

Please keep in mind, students may only take each specific placement exam one time.

1. Access the LSU RegisterBlast page.

2. Log in with your LSU username and password

3. Choose Group - select "Placement Exams (incoming freshmen)"

4. Choose Exam - select exam you wish to schedule (please see the chart above for specific exam details)

5. Exam Description - review details and requirements for your particular exam

6. Choose a Date - select from available dates

7. Choose a Time - select from available times

8. Click "Add to Cart"

9. Review your exam selection and/or add additional exams using the "+Add Another Exam" button

10. Click "Complete Registration" to finish registering

11. Review registration confirmation
Note: You will receive an email confirmation with the date, time, location, and specific exam information for each scheduled exam.

All Placement exams will take place in the LSU Testing Center located in the basement of Himes Hall, which is located between Coates Hall and Himes Hall. Please visit our Location page for additional information about the location of the LSU Testing Center.

Additional Information about Placement Exams:

Students may only take a specific placement examination one time.
Students should consider consulting with an Academic Advisor to determine the need to take a placement/credit by examination.
