NE CASC Position Opening: Deputy Federal Director

The Northeast Climate Adaptation Science Center NE CASC is seeking to fill an opening for Deputy Federal Director via a detail opportunity available to federal employees and employees of eligible organizations under the Intergovernmental Personnel Act. These organizations include state and local governments, colleges and universities, Indian Tribal governments, federally funded research and development centers, and some non-profit organizations.

NE CASC is one of eight regional centers established in 2010 to provide objective scientific information and tools that managers of land, water, wildlife, and cultural resources can use to anticipate, monitor, and adapt to climate change. More information about the NE CASC science projects, partnerships and priorities can be found here.

The Deputy Director will develop a NE CASC strategic science agenda; contribute to the annual NE science symposium, manage all aspects of the NE CASC strategic operations, including program budget; develop partnerships with diverse agencies and organizations; and respond to information requests from HQ and congress. The incumbent may also build on his/her research expertise to address regional climate adaption information needs and contribute to national and regional actionable science initiatives, including ongoing work on the transformational role of fire, ecological drought, extreme hydrology, and shifts in species distribution.
