Drs. Isiah Warner and Tyrslai Williams-Carter were featured in a C&EN article that examines the lack of support for women and underrepresented groups in U.S. chemistry graduate schools. The article discusses a University of Oregon statistician’s data analysis from a 2013 survey conducted by the American Chemical Society. More than 1300 students from 100 chemistry departments with substantial research funding were included in the study. In the article, Warner and Williams-Carter proposed probable causes as they relate to adviser and peer relationships, financial support, and career goals.
