Biography

Christian Fernández, has a B.A. in Literature from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, Peru, a M.A. in Political Sciences from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in South Korea, and a M.A. and Ph.D. in Hispanic Studies from Johns Hopkins University, USA. Presently, he is a Professor of Latin American Literature and Cultures at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. He has taught at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Johns Hopkins University, Brown University, and The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Professor Fernández has taught and lectured at numerous universities and institutions in Europe, Latin America, Asia, and the United States. He is the author of Inca Garcilaso: imaginación, memoria e identidad (2004), and Imaginar la nación: Güiraldes, Gallegos, Lugones y Borges (2020). He has edited Mis primeros ensayos (2012) by Margarita Práxedes Muñoz, co-edited Inca Garcilaso & Contemporary World-Making (2016) with Sara Castro-Klarén, and co-edited Approaches to Teaching the works of Inca Garcilaso de la Vega with José Antonio Mazzotti. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Revista de Crítica Literaria Latinoamericana and a co-founder/member of the Executive Committee of the Asociación Internacional de Peruanistas in the United States.

Colonial Latin American studies, Indigeneity, Latin American narratives, Cultural theory, post-Colonial studies, transatlantic and comparative studies.
