Biography

Dr. Dettinger joined LSU in 2006 as Director of the World Language Lab & Resource Center and German language instructor. His experiences living, studying and teaching in Germany and Austria combined with his prior teaching experience at the University of Cincinnati allows Dr. Dettinger to share his enthusiasm for the German language and culture with LSU students. His position as Director of the Language Lab & Resource Center allows him to find new technologies and combine them with language learning.

Since joining LSU Dr. Dettinger's promotion of German and technology has included online testing, voice recording, providing students travelling abroad with tools to document their experiences andStammtisch, an informal gathering for students and faculty to speak German, and the German Film Series. Dr. Dettinger is also a member of Schlaraffia, a German cultural club that meets at the Deutsches Haus in New Orleans. Dr. Dettinger aspires to promote the study of German language and other foreign languages through the facilities of the LSU Language Lab  & Resource Center.
