G&A archaeologist authors article on Ghanaian cultural heritage
Congratulations to PhD candidate Kelvin Asare on the recent online publication of his article "Mapping Ghana’s Heritage Loss: A GIS Approach to Inform a National Inventory" in the journal Conservation and Management of Archaeological Sites.
Drawing from Kelvin's MA research at the University of Ghana and leveraging GIS tools
and survey data, the article suggests that Ghana should strongly consider building
an inventory system to help preserve and manage archaeological sites. The piece further
reflects on issues of accessibility, security, and cultural relevance in light of
preservation practices in the Ghanaian context of cultural heritage management.
