Congratulations to CC&E's Fall 2025 Graduates!

December 17, 2025

Today we celebrate the Class of 2025!

"Congratulations, graduates! Today marks the culmination of your hard work, and also the beginning of your impact on the world! From Louisiana’s coastal wetlands to ecosystems around the world, the knowledge and dedication you've demonstrated here will shape solutions to the challenges faced by communities everywhere,” said CC&E Dean Clint Willson. “We are immensely proud of all you've accomplished and inspired by all you will become."

Fall 2025 sees twelve students receiving their Bachelor of Science in Coastal Environmental Science. Eighteen students got a Masters of Environmental Sciences, in both the online and in-person programs, and three students got their doctorates. One student received a Masters in Oceanography & Coastal Sciences, along with two students who received their PhDs.

As they prepared to cross the commencement stage, graduates offered advice to other students in their degrees.

“Get involved! Talk with your cohort, join clubs, greet the other people on your hallway, share meals with your labmates,” said Hannah Beck, who is getting her PhD in Oceanography & Coastal Sciences. “So much of graduate school is in your head, it's critical to engage with the ‘real’ world too.”

Tara Crow Garrett, who is receiving a Masters in Environmental Sciences, said, “Stay on top of your assignments. Seven weeks isn’t as long as it sounds to write a research paper.”

And Madoche Jean Louis, another PhD in Oceanography & Coastal Sciences, kept it simple: “Be persistent, be happy, never give up — work hard and play harder.”
