Four Coastal and Environment Students Earn Candace Chun Memorial Scholarship

Congratulations to the 2021 recipients of the Candace Chun Memorial Scholarship: graduate student in the Department of Environmental Sciences Ruth Daniel and undergraduate Coastal Environmental Science students Madeline Fryer, Olivia Hurley, and Aine O'Nuanain.

This renewable scholarship recognizes undergraduate coastal environmental science students and graduate-level environmental sciences students with a 3.25 GPA or higher and gives special consideration to women and minorities. It was established in 2011 by Ed Laws, a professor in the LSU Department of Environmental Sciences within the College of the Coast & Environment.

Often the supporters who surround our students are the ones most likely to help them succeed: parents, relatives, teachers, counselors, and mentors. Critical support also comes in the form passionate individuals like Dr. Laws who goes above and beyond his teaching to advocate for our exceptional students on a broader scale in the form of this scholarship.
