Forest Bathing

Shirin-Yoku as it is called in Japan, literally translates to Forest Bathing. When we immerse ourselves into the forest and experience its sights, sounds, aromas and textures, we can often experience a positive benefit for our mind, body, and spirit.

Singing birdes, sunlight filtering through the leaves, squirrels searching for acorns, leaves blowing in the wind, and frogs bellowing are all aspects of nature that can relax and calm the soul.

Scott Courtright, Arborist and owner of Trinity Trees, will lead the therapeutic session that will begin under the pavilion. After a brief orientation, the group will traverse the trails, with stops and social distancing, to focus individually on the forest, to allow nature to nurture, and to observe the offerings of the landscapre. As the leader of the session, Scott will positions individuals in strategic locations that will encourage a connection with the natural settingts of the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens. Participants will be encouraged to journal, meditate, internally connect, and shed stress and anxiety that permeate all our bodies, minds, and spirits.

Please bring a small pocket journal notebook, and pencil or ink pen.

The tour is designed to maintain appropriate social distancing between participants. Scott will use a wireless headset transmitter, and each participant will be given a headset to use during the tour.
