LSU Student Union Lactation Room Ribbon Cutting

January 11, 2019

LSU Auxiliary Services is proud to introduce the newly dedicated lactation space in the LSU Student Union.

Located on the second floor across from the Tiger Lair, the lactation space features three separate and private stations available to LSU students, faculty, staff, and visitors to the LSU Student Union. Access is obtained by first checking in at the Information Desk, also located on the second floor.

Each private station is equipped with a lounge chair, table, and various supplies from LSU Tiny Tigers, the University’s official pregnancy and parenting program. The LSU Tiny Tigers initiative provides breastfeeding support for nursing parents across campus through informative resources on navigating work or school as a parent in the LSU community as well as information on the accessible lactation spaces across campus.

“This has been a very rewarding process not only because we were able to turn previously undedicated space into a new service for Union visitors but also because when this process started, there was a serious need for publicly available lactation spaces on campus and we are now able to meet that need with three private and comfortable spaces in the heart of campus,” said Margot Carroll, Assistant Vice President of LSU Auxiliary Services.

The LSU Student Union will officially introduce this newly dedicated space during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend with light refreshments provided following the ceremony.
