Provost's Fellow for Artificial Intelligence

The Office of Academic Affairs invites applications for the position of Provost’s Fellow on Artificial Intelligence.  This one-year fellowship will support LSU’s efforts to thoughtfully integrate artificial intelligence into teaching, research, and academic operations in ways that strengthen student learning, empower faculty innovation, and advance the university’s academic mission.

The Provost’s Fellow will work closely with the Office of Academic Affairs, collaborating with faculty, students, and campus leaders to identify opportunities, share best practices, and help guide LSU’s approach to artificial intelligence across the university.

The fellowship is open to tenured LSU faculty members at the rank of full professor with demonstrated interest or experience in artificial intelligence and its applications in higher education.

About the Role

The Provost’s Fellow will report to the Interim Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs & Provost Troy Blanchard and partner with the Office of Academic Affairs to help advance a human-centered approach to artificial intelligence that places student learning, faculty creativity, and leadership at the center of technological innovation.

Responsibilities include:

  •  Identifying opportunities for AI to enhance teaching, research, and academic operations while strengthening meaningful student learning experiences
  • Engaging faculty, students, and campus partners—including Student Government and the Faculty Senate—to gather input and share best practices related to the responsible use of AI
  • Helping develop guidance, resources, and recommendations that support the ethical, effective, and academically grounded use of AI technologies
  • Supporting campus conversations, workshops, and events focused on the evolving role of artificial intelligence in higher education
  • Collaborating with relevant campus units to advance AI-related initiatives that strengthen LSU’s academic mission and research enterprise
