Eligibility and Requirements

  • You are eligible to apply to the HHMI Professors Program if you:
  • are an LSU freshman or first-semester sophomore

  • will contribute to the life and diversity of the STEM student body by supporting the goals of this program of respecting and learning from fellow students with diverse backgrounds and experiences
    are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in a STEM discipline

  • are interested in pursuing a terminal degree (PhD or MD/PhD) in a STEM discipline

  • are interested in research and mentoring

  • are committed to community service

  • have an LSU GPA between 2.5 and 3.0

    • Fall 2004 first-semester freshmen should have a high school GPA between 3.0 and 3.5 and must submit an official LSU transcript with final grades for fall 2004
