PLEASE NOTE: LADDL DOES NOT PERFORM HUMAN TESTING OF COVID-19. If you have any questions about animal testing of COVID-19, please contact Dr. Udeni Balasuriya, Director of LADDL, at 859-806-4775.
Governor John Bel Edwards has announced a statewide stay-at-home order that requires all Louisianans to shelter at home, with the exception of essential tasks. Subsequently, LSU has announced campus closures except for essential personnel.
Veterinarians provide essential services, and thus, the Louisiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (LADDL) testing services remain vital for the support of the veterinary community. LADDL will maintain regular business hours (M-F, 8 am – 5 pm), but implement contingency plans to select and prioritize essential and emergency cases for diagnostic testing. Under contingency plan A, we will reduce the number of personnel in each LADDL section to ensure social (physical) distancing while maintaining uninterrupted testing services for diagnosing diseases of public or herd health importance, regulatory diseases, and foreign animal diseases.
We will continue to provide essential testing services to our clients. This change may cause some delay in releasing the final diagnostic test results and reports. We hope you understand the current situation in the state of Louisiana and the country, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation during these unprecedented times.
Please contact our LADDL business office at 225-578-9777 if you have any questions.
