COVID Guidance Ends

Updated August 2023

In March 2020, the U.S. government via the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of State relaxed the enrollment requirements for students in F-1 and J-1 status to allow greater flexibility with hybrid and online courses than the the federal regulations allow. These permissions continued through the end of the Summer 2023 term.

On May 11, 2023, the U.S. government declared an end to the COVID-19 emergency. Subsequently, the Department of Homeland Security, Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) announced the end of COVID-19 flexibilities. As of the Fall 2023 semester, the original enrollment requirements and limitations for online courses are back in place.
