Join the Bayou Krewe!

As a member of the LSU International Programs community you have a unique perspective on Louisiana and the opportunity to experience the state as a resident as well as a tourist, no matter how long you’re in the Bayou State. The Louisiana Office of Tourism wants to make sure you know about the resources it offers and the ways you can join in.

This year, the Louisiana Office of Tourism launched the Bayou Krewe Ambassador Program, a unique social media initiative in which anyone can become a member of the Louisiana tourism team. Whether you live in Louisiana, love visiting Louisiana or have some fond memories there – you’re invited to join!

The Bayou Krewe is designed to empower social media users to share what they love about Louisiana to entice their friends and followers to visit. By the summer of 2007, more than 6,000 participants had signed up already and had posted over 20,000 photos since the launch of the program. You can see these images in constantly updating galleries on LouisianaTravel.com and many are reposted on the @LouisianaTravel social media channels. To join the Bayou Krewe and start seeing your photos join them, visit OnlyLouisiana.com.

“As I have traveled this state, I have witnessed the passion of our people in every town and city in our state. Every corner of Louisiana offers exciting history, culture, food, music, and attractions and I’m asking our people to help us showcase it to the world,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser.

Participants in the program receive a letter from the Lieutenant Governor and an official Bayou Krewe sticker to get them started. You can use it as a bumper sticker, place it on your tackle box or boat when you fish, on your laptop, anywhere to show your love for #OnlyLouisiana. They’ll also start receiving monthly emails with challenges to win special rewards from Louisiana product partners such as Southern Marsh, Kysek Ice Chests, Tchoup Industries and Southern Football Tees.

If you need ideas on all there is to do throughout the state, visit LouisianaTravel.com. Without going very far, you can experience some of the most celebrated and distinctive scenery, music and food in the United States. And now through the Bayou Krewe, you can help the Louisiana Office of Tourism share your stories with the world.

Once you've signed up, start sharing photos of the things you love most about the Bayou State with #OnlyLouisiana on Instagram and Twitter for a chance to earn rewards. Be sure to follow @LouisianaTravel on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and help spread the word about the Bayou Krewe and #OnlyLouisiana.
