Update on Summer 2021 Programs

 March 19, 2021

After careful consideration and consultation with education abroad faculty leaders, the Office of International Programs has decided to cancel study abroad for Summer 2021.

We have tried to postpone this decision, hoping that the COVID-19 situation would have improved significantly by now. However, as many of you know, travel restrictions remain in place, the U.S. Department of State and CDC continue to advise against non-essential travel, and visas are more difficult to obtain today than ever before.

We are aware of the frustration and inconvenience that this decision will have on students and faculty. We pride ourselves on providing quality, immersive learning opportunities through our study abroad programs. However, it is becoming increasingly difficult to imagine offering that same level of experience with the current circumstances.

Students who committed to a summer program and paid a deposit will receive a full refund in the coming days. If you have any questions or concerns about summer study abroad programs or the refund process, please email studyabroad@lsu.edu

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
