March 15, 2019

Baton Rouge, LA -- On March 16, 2019, the LSU School of Education will host a collaborative conference -- The Innovative Practices and Techniques:  A Cross-Fertilization of the Immersion, ESL, and Second Language Classrooms. The conference will take place in 225 Peabody Hall on LSU’s campus.

The conference will provide second language teachers:

  • updates on current issues in the field of second languages
  • insight on how to reach out to families and communities to encourage students' second language learning
  • learn new techniques and apply these ideas in new and innovative ways
  • learn and discuss the various proficiency assessments available to second language learners

Conference organizer, Margaret Piccoli says “We are thrilled with the response to our first-year conference designed specifically to share the most innovative practices in second language classrooms. More than 60 educators from across the state will come together to share and learn strategies that give children in our classrooms opportunities for second language learning.”
