November 9, 2023

BATON ROUGE - Corinthian R. Henley, an experienced educator at the LSU Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool (ECELP) and Coordinator of the Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate (ECAC) program, has successfully completed the Teachstone Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) Train-the-Trainer program to become an in-house expert. This certification underscores Henley’s commitment to fostering excellence in education and enhancing the quality of classroom interactions.

The CLASS Train-the-Trainer program is a research-based initiative that equips organizations with the tools and knowledge to build in-house CLASS experts and certify observers, ensuring the collection of reliable classroom data. The program offers a host of advantages for institutions seeking to elevate their education quality assessment efforts. As a certified CLASS Trainer, Henley is now equipped to train other staff members on CLASS fundamentals and certify observers, thereby fostering a strong internal knowledge base dedicated to education quality improvement. With this certification, Henley has honed her own expertise in CLASS coding and training facilitation, ensuring the highest level of accuracy and reliability in data collection. Furthermore, by becoming a CLASS Trainer, Henley is now well-positioned to assess teaching quality on a broader scale, enabling frequent, ongoing, and widespread data collection that can drive continuous improvement.

Research has consistently shown that the CLASS framework significantly improves teacher-student interactions, measures effective interaction across various age levels and grades, and promotes academic gains in classrooms rated higher on CLASS. Henley’s certification as a CLASS Trainer marks a significant step forward in the quest for educational excellence. She is now poised to share her expertise with others and help drive positive change in classrooms, aiming to contribute to the improvement of teacher-student interactions and academic gains.
