2017 - 2018 Academic Year



March 9-10, 2018: Annual HGSA Conference featuring keynote speaker Daniel Greene, PhD. Stay tuned for updates from Libby Taylor.

We will need many volunteers to help plan conference details and many more the weekend of to help with setup and takedown, registration, and hosting. If you are interested in participating please see the conference webpage here.

October 4-5 and, 2017 and again in the spring: Annual HGSA Book Sale--VOLUNTEERS ALWAYS NEEDED! This year the book sale will be split into two events, two days each. Please sign up in the office.

September 30, 2017: HGSA Potluck Tailgate.

March 4th and 5th, 2016: HGSA Conference featuring keynote speaker John D'Emilio, Professor of History and Gender and Women's Studies Emeritus.

November 16-19, 2015: Annual HGSA Book Sale. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Please sign up for a shift or two in the main office, 224 Himes Hall

October 24th, 2015 10am-6pm: HGSA Tailgate and Clio Cup Historian Games. Please bring contributions for potluck tailgate and beverages. The first competition will be for best historically themed side dish or dessert. Please consult the sign up sheet in Himes to coordinate. Once calories are consumed, teams will engage each other in contests of croquet, bean bag toss, and trivia! The winning team earns laurel wreaths of triumph, in addition to points toward the year-long Clio Cup competition. The game opens at 3:30 for those with tickets. In LSU tradition tailgating will continue throughout. Please remember to bring chairs, food, and drink. We will set up in front of Coates Hall on the Tower Drive side between Coates and the Student Union.

October 8th, 2015: Twilight tour of the USS Kidd, 5:30-8:30pm. Admission is $15 per person.

November 3-7, 2014: HGSA Book Sale. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Please sign up for a shift or two in the main office, 224 Himes Hall

October 30, 2014: HGSA meeting 12:30, Himes 241, to be followed immediately by Conference Committee meeting

October 25, 2014: HGSA Homecoming Tailgate

March 27, 9:00am-4:15pm: Conference panels in 214 and 218 Coates Hall (refreshments and lunch provided)
