New Employee Preparation Program: Navigating LSU 

New Employee Preparation Program

The goal of New Employee Preparation Program is to assist new hires within the first two years of employment at Louisiana State University.  The program is designed to assist the mentee with becoming oriented within their new position, the LSU campus, and understanding LSU culture by offering support and guidance. During the first year of implementation, the pilot program will enroll several small groups of mentees with corresponding mentors into this mentorship level.

Becoming a Mentee

The role of the mentee, is to identify desired initial learning goals and measures of success for the mentoring partnership. A mentee is encouraged to take advantage of all learning opportunities and broaden their knowledge base by asking questions. Through the interactions with their mentor, a mentee has the opportunity to grow professionally and better define their career path.

Eligibility

Mentees must:

  • Be employed at a full-time status (100% effort)
  • Be a newly hired within the past two years (2017 or later)
  • Be in good-standing with the University
  • Have a clear understanding of specifics that they want to learn from their mentor
  • Display a willingness to have an active role in their mentorship
  • Be willing to commit to monthly meetings

How to Become a Mentee

New employees hired within the past two years will be notified via email of their eligibility.
