LSU to Close at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28

Wednesday, October 28, 2020; 11:00 a.m.

Dear LSU Community,

LSU will close at 12:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 28, due to Hurricane Zeta. All classes and activities scheduled to occur at 12:30 p.m. or later -- whether in-person or virtual -- are cancelled, except LSU Online courses which will proceed as scheduled. Any classes that are still in progress at 12:30 p.m. should be ended at that time in expectation of inclement weather this afternoon.

LSU will reopen as normal on Thursday, Oct. 29.

The 12:30 p.m. closure includes the University Laboratory School, the LSU Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool, and all on-campus COVID-19 testing locations. For LSU Online students in our 7-week 100% online programs, please contact your Learner Concierge or faculty member for more information.

LSU residence halls, on-campus apartments and dining halls will remain open. Please check dineoncampus.com/lsu for updates regarding dining hall hours. Students who live on campus should shelter in place during the storm by remaining indoors and keeping in contact with Residential Life staff for any instructions.

Essential employees should check with their supervisors about whether they should remain on campus after 12:30 p.m. Non-essential employees should not remain on campus and are not expected to work after 12:30 p.m., even if they are still working remotely due to COVID-19, because of the potential for inclement weather and power outages. Faculty members should not attempt to hold remote classes after 12:30 p.m. for the same reasons. The Office of Human Resource Management will send instructions for time entry for the weather-related closure to all timekeepers in a follow-up email.

Please watch your LSU email account, www.lsu.edu, LSU’s official social media channels, and LSU emergency text messaging for any updates. Those who have not signed up for emergency text messages should do so at my.lsu.edu by clicking on “Personal Preferences” and “Emergency Contacts.”
