My research focuses on the detection and management of a new emerging disease called “boxwood dieback”. The aim is to develop a diagnostic TaqMan real-time PCR assay for detection and quantification of Colletotrichum theobromicola, causal agent of boxwood dieback. Additionally, boxwood cultivars/hybrids will be screened to determine the host range of the pathogen through greenhouse studies. Another objective of my research includes proposing chemical management strategies by in-vitro screening of fungicides to combat boxwood dieback.
