LSU to Work with ParkMobile to Offer Contactless Parking Payments at On-Campus Metered Spaces

Amid COVID-19 concerns, students, employees and visitors will have the option to skip the meter and pay for parking via mobile app

08/14/20
BATON ROUGE – ParkMobile, the leading provider of smart parking and mobility solutions in the U.S., announced today the launch of service on LSU’s campus in Baton Rouge. Students, faculty, staff and visitors will be able to use the ParkMobile app to pay for parking at over 650 metered spaces around campus beginning Monday, August 17. With the recent COVID-19 crisis, the Park Mobile app provides users with the opportunity to pay for parking through the app instead of the meter to aid in preventing the spread of the virus.

ParkMobile is the #1 parking app in the U.S. with more than 19 million users and is available for both iPhone and Android devices. To pay for parking with the ParkMobile app, a user enters the zone number posted on the stickers and signs around a metered parking space. The user then selects the amount of time needed and touches the “Start Parking” button to begin the session. The user can also extend the time of the parking session on their mobile device without having to go back to the meter.

The launch of ParkMobile at LSU expands the company’s footprint in the state. There are nearly 300,000 users of ParkMobile in Louisiana with availability in the cities of New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Shreveport. And there are over 7 million users of the app across the Southeast region. ParkMobile is also available at many SEC schools including Texas A&M University, Mississippi State University, University of Alabama and University of Georgia.

“LSU Parking is excited that this feature will be offered to LSU students and employees,” said LSU Transportation Demand Manager Josh Galasso. “Offering a contactless option provides a safer and smarter way for students, faculty and visitors to pay for parking on campus.”

“ParkMobile is excited to launch at LSU and add another great SEC school to our network,” said Jon Ziglar, ParkMobile CEO. “Now everyone on campus can avoid touching the meters and safely pay for parking on the app. Geaux Tigers!”
