LSU to Host Free Webinar on "The Relationship Between the Environment and the Coronavirus"

BATON ROUGE – LSU’s College of the Coast & Environment, School of Public Health and
School of Veterinary Medicine will host a free webinar, titled “The Relationship Between
the Environment and the Coronavirus,” including a Q&A, on April 2, at 10 a.m.
WHAT: “The Relationship Between the Environment and the Coronavirus” Webinar—part of the LSU Earth Day Lecture Series. The webinar will include the following:
- Welcome and opening comments by Christopher D’Elia, professor and dean, LSU College of the Coast & Environment
- “Pathogens Emerging: The Need for One Health Teams” by Joel Baines, dean and Dr. Kenneth F. Burns Chair in Veterinary Medicine, LSU School of Veterinary Medicine
- “First SARS-CoV, then MERS, and now SARS-CoV-2: The Pandemic Potentials of Beta Coronaviruses” by Jim Diaz, professor and program director, Environmental/Occupational Health Sciences MPH, LSU School of Public Health
- Q&A moderated by Fabio Del Piero, professor, Pathobiological Sciences, LSU School of Veterinary Medicine
- Closing Remarks by Christopher D’Elia, professor and dean, LSU College of the Coast
