Biography
Henry Goldkamp lives in New Orleans where he teaches writing and performance studies at Louisiana State University, hosts the reading series Splice, serves as associate editor of Tilted House, and acts as communications director for the New Orleans Poetry Festival. His books include Not My Circus (Ursus Americanus, 2025), JOY BUZZER: A Clown Show (Ricochet Editions, 2025), and Balloon Animal (Cloak, forthcoming 2026). He is particularly known for his theory of “clown poetics” which involves investigating the language of stupidity as a form of valid meaning-making. Recent poetry, criticism, and performance appear in Passages North, Denver Quarterly, DIAGRAM, Poetry Northwest, Chicago Review, and TriQuarterly.
