Several of the winners hold their certificatesBATON ROUGE, LA – The LSU College of Engineering and its Division of Electrical & Computer Engineering recently hosted LSU Clean Energy Day, an event aimed at increasing public awareness about green power and energy generation, as well as providing students with a clear vision of potential careers and research paths they can choose in the field.

“This event provides a unique opportunity for students with different educational levels and backgrounds to communicate and learn from each other about the field of green power and energy generation,” said Amin Kargarian, ECE associate professor and one of the two organizers of the event, along with Adrienne Steele, assistant director of student programs and outreach in the LSU College of Engineering.

“It helps high school students to gain a better vision of clean energy and power systems and career opportunities in this field. Also, undergraduate students learn the advantages of pursuing their higher education degree in power and energy systems, and graduate students learn research opportunities from their peers.”

The highlight of the event was the Poster Symposium, which featured three competition categories—high school students, undergraduate students, and graduate students. High school students prepare posters using their intuition and vision about power and energy systems. Undergraduate students select relevant topics, conduct online research, and prepare posters accordingly. Graduate students use the outputs of their research work to prepare their posters.
