Khonsari Named to NSF EPSCoR Committee

Khonsari posing in labBATON ROUGE, LA – LSU Mechanical Engineering Professor and Director of the Center for Innovations in Structural Integrity Assurance Michael Khonsari has been selected as one of 19 national experts for the National Science Foundation’s Committee on the Future of NSF EPSCoR.

Khonsari is the only representative from a Louisiana institution.

Members were selected from more than 70 nominations of highly qualified candidates and bring a diverse set of experiences to the committee. The group will guide NSF EPSCoR’s visioning activity by engaging with external stakeholders to better understand the impacts of NSF EPSCoR’s investment strategies and identify new opportunities for increased success.

Khonsari holds a bachelor’s, master’s and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. His research areas include heat transfer, numerical analysis, machinery performance analysis, and tribology (friction, lubrication, and wear).
