DeepDrug™ Team

The LSU DeepDrug team is composed of researchers using artificial intelligence to discover new drugs. Initially focused on finding new antibiotics and antimicrobials, the global COVID-19 pandemic challenged the DeepDrug team to identify new antivirals effective against coronavirus. The DeepDrug technology is a revolutionary way of using AI to discover new drugs as well as identify existing drugs that could be used for other purposes, greatly reducing the time from lab to market. Using AI, the team’s shared goal is to treat illness in ways never before imagined.

The mapping we do between viral activity, antiviral peptides, and known drug compounds in one unifying framework is a critical component. It’s challenging but exciting work.
