LSU Food Science Ph.D. Student Earns IFT Travel Scholarship and Competition Honors

We are proud to celebrate the achievements of Aakankshya Dhakal, a Ph.D. student in the School of Nutrition and Food Sciences at Louisiana State University, recognized during summer 2025.

Aakankshya received the IFT Feeding Tomorrow Graduate Travel Scholarship, enabling her to attend the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Annual Event and Expo. At the conference, she and her teams earned finalist positions in two prestigious product development competitions:

• Team “PopBiotic” – MARS Product Development Competition
• Team “RiceVita” – Developing Solutions for Developing Countries Competition
  These honors reflect Aakankshya’s commitment to advancing food innovation, safety, and sustainability through creative, science-driven solutions.
