About:

I grew up in Baton Rouge where both of my parents and brother graduated from LSU so I always wanted to earn a degree from LSU. I've always enjoyed the outdoors and observing wildlife which is why I chose to attend the college of renewable natural resources. My degree is in natural resources ecology and management with a concentration on wildlife ecology. Earning my degree from LSU has opened many opportunities for me to move forward in my career to become a waterfowl research biologists. I've recently been accepted into graduate school in upstate New York and look forward to furthering my education by earning a masters degree in natural resource management. I plan to continue pursuing work related to waterfowl habitat conservation and wetland management.

Job Responsibilities:

Over the past three years I have been employed in 5 different states working with state and federal agency waterfowl biologists in assisting with trapping waterfowl and studying their migrations. All of my jobs have involved using many of the skills I learned at LSU including wildlife management techniques, telemetry, flora and fauna identification, GIS, and being knowledgeable of current policies regarding natural resources.

Favorite LSU Memory:

RNR classes go on many, many fun field trips. Duck hunting with Dr. Laborde and Dr. Ringelman was a blast. Also the Ducks Unlimited banquets were always a good time.

What advice do you have for current and prospective LSU Agriculture students?

There are many opportunities to get involved with LSU! Look for volunteer opportunities and internships in order to get the experience you will need to compete in the job market after college. It can be competitive and LSU has a great reputation for delivering a quality education. Ask a lot of questions! Ask your advisors, your mentors, your peers, and never stop asking yourself what you want to do with your life, what makes you happy. It's never too late to start on a new path. Find the people who you look up to or want to be and ask them how they got there.

Awards and Honors:

Excellence Award from USFWS for doubling their bird banding quota and going above and beyond the call of duty. Summer 2018.
