LSU is a distinguished, strong, and competitive institution. We have broken records in enrollment for both online and in-person students as well as research, and we want to continue to build upon those successes until we realize our full potential. In order to realize bold and ambitious goals, the ideal candidate must be ready to aggressively pursue objectives and dynamically solve critical issues. This may seem like a tall order, but we must strive for nothing less than “flagshipping,” to use the nomenclature of LSU President William Tate.
LSU is vital to Louisiana, touching the lives of every citizen in the state. During the 2017 fiscal year, LSU was responsible for a $5.1 billion economic impact to the state, which is effectively $1,097 per Louisiana citizen. Our presence emanates throughout each of our 64 parishes, but our influence does not stop there. Our global reach is extraordinary with the convenience of an online degree through LSU, and our portfolio of available programs continues to grow at a rapid pace. In addition, LSU Online & Continuing Education has collaborated with corporate and industry partners like Guild Education and Raising Cane’s to serve a wide range of adult learners. The success of these strategic partnerships will pave the way for an even brighter future.
Online education has allowed all of the LSU campuses to collaborate on a heretofore unprecedented level. Whereas geographical barriers once hindered progress, they now provide a unique set of opportunities. We currently offer online programs through LSU A&M, LSU Alexandria, LSU Eunice, LSU Health New Orleans, and LSU Shreveport, leveraging a vast array of expertise. We have reinvested our success into our infrastructure to allow for an even greater future, underlining our commitment to online education as a strategic priority.
