Post Doc Appreciation Week

The week of September 21-25 is Post-doc Appreciation Week!

A postdoctoral researcher, post-doctoral researcher or postdoctoral fellow is a person conducting research after the completion of their doctoral studies as part of a temporary appointment, usually in preparation for an academic faculty position.

Since 2009, the National Postdoc Association has sponsored National Postdoc Appreciation Day/Week to recognize the significant contributions that postdoctoral scholars make to U.S. research and discovery. Institutions from across the country and other parts of the world participate by holding special events. In 2010, this week was officially recognized by the U.S. House of Representatives.

In the three departments at LSU SVM (CBS, PBS and VCS), we have more than 20 post-doctoral researchers that come from all over the world (Bangladesh, Canada, China, Germany, India, Jordan, Mexico, Nigeria, Ukraine, and the United States).
