Accessing Library Resources

The Library has a wealth of resources available, but finding those resources can be confusing with the variety of search tools available. Join us for a short class that explores how to access library resources. Learn where to begin your search for information and how to use the tools to find and access available resources. This class will cover the major veterinary and medical journals research guide, the Library Catalog, the SVM Electronic Resources tool, the LSU Libraries E-journals tool, and the Discovery search.

The use of EndNote citation management software saves its users time and effort when collecting sources, creating citations, formatting bibliographies, and more. In this instructional class, you will learn how to download the software, import and organize references, find and attach full-text PDFs, and how to use the 'Cite While You Write' feature in Microsoft Word.

Finding Clinical Resources in Veterinary Medicine

What types of veterinary clinical resources are available to you, how do you locate them, and how do you evaluate whether they are a good fit for your clinical needs? This instructional class uses a clinical case study to illustrate the various types of clinical resources available to you, how you can use research guides, the Catalog, and databases to locate them, and how to evaluate the credibility of a resource.

Research Databases

LSU provides a number of research databases with which the LSU community can search scholarly literature. This class will introduce the basic steps to follow in order to ensure a successful search and will introduce the four major research databases (PubMed, CabDirect, VetMed Resource, and Web of Science) applicable to the veterinary sciences available through campus libraries.
