The Tennessee Department of Agriculture is seeking applicants for the position of Veterinarian Diagnostic Laboratory Director for the Kord Animal Health Diagnostic Laboratory, in Nashville, Tennessee.  The laboratory is fully accredited by the AAVLD and is a member laboratory of the NAHLN, NPIP, and VetLIRN. The laboratory director is responsible for the overall operation and administration of the laboratory and will lead a dedicated team of professionals and paraprofessionals to ensure provision of the highest quality laboratory services to Tennesse's public and industry stakeholders. The laboratory provides a wide range of services including pathology, immunology, serology, molecular diagnostics, bacteriology, and toxicology. Nashville is located in beautiful middle Tennessee, and offers world class music venues and entertainment, professional sports, and excellent outdoor recreation opportunities.

Minimum qualifications:

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an American Veterinary Medical Association-accredited college of veterinary medicine
  • An advanced degree in relevant field of study
  • 5 years veterinary diagnostic laboratory or relevant work experience 
  • 5 years directing/supervising experience.

Veterinary Care and Specialty Group (VCSG) is a family and locally owned emergency and referral hospital located near downtown Chattanooga, TN. We are a full-service hospital for small animal emergencies and referrals. We see a myriad of cases from simple treatments to complex surgeries.

Currently on staff at VCSG are three boarded surgeons, three specialists, and five full- time emergency veterinarians. Specialty areas include cardiology, internal medicine, and emergency/critical care.   • Explain physical examination findings and communicate to the client a diagnosis of the pet's problems; generate and present a treatment plan for the pet to the client; educate clients on preventative health care, including vaccines and appropriate nutritional products.
  • Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and make certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols; assist colleagues in follow-up and future management of the patient.
  • Stay up-to-date with new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine, attend Continuing Education meetings.
  • Assist in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service.
  • Positively represent the hospital in the professional community and to the general public.
  • Treat every client like family and each patient like your own pet.

Requirements
