Work Schedule

We provide six months of direct mentorship.  During this time, you will see cases alongside your mentoring veterinarian to allow direct oversight in general practice, emergency medicine, and surgery.  This phase of your employment will provide an excellent base as you transition to your primary schedule.  Once you begin your primary schedule, you will have other colleagues working alongside you to provide support. Your work schedule will average 35-38 hours per week.

Salary

New graduates start with a base salary of $95,000!

Insurance, Dues, Benefits

We are pleased to provide a comprehensive benefit package including professional liability insurance for the practitioner, health insurance, life insurance, 401(k), DEA registration, and membership dues in the local, state, and national organizations such as AVMA, AAHA, and NYSVMS.  We also provide a comprehensive personal and family pet care discount.  In addition, we provide 10 paid (major) holidays and 10 days of paid vacation per year.  Vacation time is arranged by the doctors and shifts are traded to allow for coverage.  This style of vacation time planning is preferred as it allows flexibility. 

Continuing CE

We will pay for annual attendance at a national meeting.  The amount provided for national meetings increases yearly starting at $1,500 up to $2,000.

We are looking to bring in a full time associate to our veterinary clinic. Our modern hospital includes a comfortable reception area, two exam rooms, complete surgical and dental facilities, anesthesia monitoring, diagnostic radiology, pharmacy, diagnostic laboratory, treatment room, isolation, surgical ward and general medical area. We see cats, dogs, exotics, rescues, and pro bono work as well. During this pandemic we have been extremely busy as we were one of the only clinics opened during the pandemic. We started taking precautions since the beginning of March. 

Full-time (preferred) or Part-time. We offer attractive work hours, no on call or emergency duty required and we are closed on major holidays and Sundays. Rhinebeck Equine is growing!  We are now hiring for a full time and a seasonal, full time Licensed Veterinary Technician, a Technician enrolled in an accredited AVMA Veterinary Technician program, or an enrolled Veterinary student to work in our hospital. This seasonal position runs until July and potentially into Aug based on the caseload. Flexible schedule preferred availability for some nights and weekends is required.

As an LVT/VT, you will be responsible for providing treatments, preparing and administering medications, performing physical exams, passing nasogastric tubes, placing catheters, running fluids, and assisting with diagnostics to our hospitalized patients. As well, you will assist with surgery and nuclear scintigraphy, you will also be responsible for recording treatments and observations in medical records and reporting any abnormalities to the intern veterinarian on the case. You will also assist in the general care and cleaning of our equine patients and their surroundings.

Excellent customer service skills, computer skills, and horse knowledge are vital to this role.
