The Veterinary Clinic of the Mineral Area and Fredericktown Animal Hospital are privately owned full-service clinics, providing care for pets and large animals in St. Francois, Madison and surrounding counties. We provide a wide range of medical and surgical services for ill and injured animals, but our model of care is focused on providing each animal with the full benefits of preventative medicine, delivered at an affordable cost to their owners. Our practice area is made up of several smaller towns with a rural atmosphere, yet full of opportunities for shopping and dining. Numerous state parks in the surrounding area provide ample opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts. The area has several quality K-12 schools along with two junior colleges. We are also located within 1 hour of St. Louis to the north, and Cape Girardeau to the south.

Position description: We are looking for either a small animal or mixed animal DVM to join our current team of 10 doctors and 45 staff members. We offer a very competitive compensation and benefits package that includes: Paid vacations and personal time off, four days of continuing education allowance plus up to $1800, malpractice insurance, AVMA and MVMA dues, Missouri license fees, retirement plan, health, dental and vision insurance. A sign-on bonus is available to help with moving and relocation costs. The usual work schedule is a set schedule that includes three 8 hours days and one 12-hour day, along with every other Saturday 8-12pm. Part time employees may be considered.

As a mixed animal practice, our medical staff and facility have the flexibility to provide a broad degree of veterinary care while maintaining the local, small town, family-like feel. We are prepared to offer a wide range of services for companion animals with our clinics as well as haul-in facilities for large animal medical needs. We also provide on-the-farm visits when needed. About the Practice 

Barry County Veterinary Service is a mixed animal practice located in Cassville, Missouri. The current case load is 40% large animal 60% small animal. The large animal case load is predominately beef cows/calves, few stockers, few small ruminates, equine and exotic hoofed stock. The small animal case load involves canine, feline, and pocket pets. A large portion of the small animal case load focuses on canine theriogenology. We utilize hydraulic cattle working equipment (tilt chute, hydraulic alley, hydraulic chute) to facilitate the veterinary services we provide for our large animal clients. To aid in the management and treatment of our small animal patients, we utilize in-house computed radiography (CR), Heska blood chemistry machine, Mini-Vidas progesterone machine, etc.

About the Position

The associate veterinarian position is for a 50% large animal 50% small animal practitioner. Large animal veterinary duties would include performing bull breeding soundness exams, pregnancy testing (palpation and ultrasound), cattle processing, managing dystocias, heifer evaluations, artificial inseminations, lameness evaluations/treatment, etc. The small animal veterinary duties would include performing routine pet vaccines, small animal surgeries (spay, neuter, mass removal, etc.), wellness exams, sick animal exams, etc. Additionally, the associate would be expected to be involved in the canine theriogenology portion of our practice which would entail performing canine breeding soundness exams, staging canine estrus cycles, surgical inseminations, C-sections, etc.
