Externship Positions Available.

New England Animal Medical Center offers 1-2 week externships for 3rd or 4th year veterinary students. Externs may rotate through Emergency & Critical Care, Surgery or General Practice depending on their interests and goals. We provide a hands on experience and encourage direct client and patient interaction. Externs are invited to attend morning rounds and afternoon didactic rounds. The externship experience is designed to provide students with varied, hands on clinical experience at a busy private practice and also to introduce potential internship candidates to our hospital and services. 

New England Animal Medical Center is a 24 hour emergency & referral practice convenient to Boston, Providence and Cape Cod. We have specialists in Emergency & Critical Care, Surgery and Consulting specialists in Internal Medicine, Radiology, and Cardiology. We also house a busy 5 doctor general practice. We have demonstrated a longstanding commitment to clinical teaching of students, interns, residents and staff and take pride in our family friendly environment. We have an established rotating internship program as well as residency programs in Emergency & Critical Care and Surgery. If this sounds like you then Dakin Humane Society wants to know!  We are a fast-paced, open admission adoption center that takes in 6,000 animals each year. We are looking for the perfect person to join our team!

Dakin is looking for a veterinarian to complete our team of two veterinarians dedicated to the Adoption Center and soon to be developed Community Medicine program. This position will be responsible for the medical care of adoption center animals, our weekly vaccine clinic, community medicine program as well as performing spay/neuter, other surgeries and dentistry.  This position will also be responsible for working with our Veterinary & Animal Care Manager on oversight of the organization's medical program, daily oversight of shelter medical components, working to ensure compliance with Dakin guidelines for care, create new policies and standards of care, as well as collaborating with the other veterinarians on staff.
