Job Description: Associate Veterinarian for Emergency Clinic
Full-time associate ER veterinarians can earn over $100,000 working three shifts per week. In fact, you do not need to be an experienced veterinarian in emergency medicine to be successful and new graduates would be an excellent fit for our practice.
Animal Emergency Clinic (AEC) provides after hours veterinary care for our patients and referring veterinarians. We are a locally-owned private practice serving the Central Illinois region. Our hours of operation include weeknights, weekends, and most major holidays.
During the initial training process, new veterinarians are accompanied by another emergency clinician for the first six to eight weeks of practice. To gain surgical experience, your initial training will also include performing routine surgeries with Highland Pet Hospital in Bloomington, IL. In general, there is one emergency clinician with supporting staff on each shift and additional assistance can be provided by the on call doctors.
Most patients are seen for continual referral veterinary care, routine illnesses, and owner convenience. Routine responsibilities include evaluating and triaging patients, evaluating diagnostic tests (Bloodwork, Imaging), managing and supervising intensive care patients, performing surgical procedures, overseeing veterinary technicians or other support staff, and communicating with referring veterinarians and owners. The caseload for weekend days averages 10 cases per shift and weekday overnights averages 6 cases per shift. On average, a full-time associate will work 40 hours per week.
