Job Description

Associate Veterinarians in Tucson: $35,000 signing bonus, potential to earn $150,000K+ annually.

Pantano Animal Clinic is looking to hire two veterinarians for their small animal clinic in beautiful, sunny and warm Tucson, Arizona. Located in the desert southwest and surrounded by four mountain ranges, Tucson is the first US UNESCO World City of Gastronomy - home to what is considered the best 23 miles of Mexican food north of the border (which Tucson is about an hour and a north of). In addition to great hiking and a world class university, the University of Arizona (and their new College of Veterinary Medicine), Tucson is an eight hour drive (or 45 minute flight) from San Diego and beautiful California beaches; four hours from Flagstaff, AZ (skiing at 11,500 feet and the nearby Grand Canyon, as well as the Navajo Nation and Hopi Reservation) and a four hour drive from the beautiful Mexican beach town of Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) located on the Gulf of California.

At Pantano Animal Clinic, our clients, the pets we treat and our staff are all family. The medical director, Dr. Michael Lent, is a 1991 Purdue University CVM graduate and has practiced here since 1996 (after 5 years working for Noah's Animal Hospitals in Indianapolis). We have a Luxar CO2 surgical laser, a K-laser Class IV therapy laser, digital X-ray and digital dental x-ray, in house and send out IDEXX reference laboratory and five Certified Veterinary technicians (CVT). We strive to practice the very best medicine every day in a hardworking, but fun and teaching environment. We are normally a 3-4 doctor practice, but recently had one doctor leave to pursue a pathology residency and another move out of state to Texas with family.

Dr. Lent is a past president of the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association, the local Southern AZ VMA and served a five year term on the Arizona State Veterinary Medical Examining Board. He serves as one of two Arizona delegates to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). He serves on the Animal Cruelty Task Force of southern Arizona and has served as its co-chair, as well as lectured to pre-vet &veterinary students and veterinarians about the link between animal abuse and human violence, especially domestic violence and child abuse. He also is a member of and the Co-Chair of the Advisory Board to the National Association for Black Veterinarians (NABV). He was also recently selected to serve on the Advisory Group to the Commission of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) developed by a joint venture of the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) and the AVMA. He has also completed the Certificate Program for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion from the Purdue Center for Excellence for Diversity and Inclusion in Veterinary Medicine. And he likes to teach and mentor young veterinarians (believe it or not, he was once one, too).

Pantano Animal Clinic is part of Lakefield Veterinary Group, a privately owned company (with Canadian owners) based in the Seattle area and comprised of over 50 hospitals in Houston, Minneapolis, Portland, Oregon; Anchorage, Alaska; Bozeman, Montana; Indianapolis; Wisconsin and Seattle.

The signing bonus is $35,000. Base salary is $100,000 with the opportunity to earn significant production bonuses (potentially $10-15K per quarter). The benefits are extensive with excellent health, dental and vision insurance, matching 401(k) retirement program and inexpensive life and disability insurance. $2500 Continuing education annual allowance and licenses and association memberships are paid for. Generous Personal Time Off (PTO) is also part of the compensation package. Opportunity to become the Medical Director in the next few years also exists.

Please contact Mike Lent DVM mlent@lakefieldvet.com, 520.240.0037 or Emily Brechner, ebrechner@lakefieldvet.com for more details or to schedule an interview.
