Energy Star | LSU Campus Sustainability

Energy Star

In 2015 LSU formally partnered with ENERGY STAR in an effort to reduce energy usage in buildings all across campus.

LSU’s goal is to reduce energy usage by 30% campus-wide by installing more energy efficient equipment and lighting, and also by changing the behavior of building occupants.

LSU is using ENERGY STAR’s Portfolio Manager to track energy usage and savings in targeted buildings in order to measure progress.

LSU’s energy efficiency goal is part of a larger effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050. LSU’s Campus Committee on Sustainability was formed in the Fall of 2015 and is currently in the process of setting both short and long-term goals related to greenhouse gas emissions, in the areas of energy efficiency, transportation, landfill diversion, food, procurement, green building, and carbon sequestration.
