Dear LSU Community,

Changes in times, values, and leadership often bring about more questions than answers. But there are some truths that never waver.

You are part of the LSU family. Just like in your own family, you likely have ideological, political, and social differences. But you take care of one another, because no matter what, you are family. That's why we support each other and make sure that we all can proudly carry our LSU experience with us for a lifetime, no matter what your race, creed, ethnicity, orientation or gender.

At LSU, our students, faculty and staff, who come to us from around the state, the country, and the world, combine to make a great university, known globally for outstanding research, education, and service. We always strive for the betterment of our future by learning from the successes and failures of our past. We haven’t been perfect, but these experiences made us stronger, and in our strength, we can set an example.

We have an opportunity to demonstrate that the rules of civil society and discourse have not been abandoned. We do not have to fall victim to divisiveness. Now is not the time to turn away from one another. All are welcomed at LSU. It is time to come together, to let our similarities speak louder than our differences. Respect and disagreement aren’t mutually exclusive concepts.

Be good to one another, and go out into the world and do great things, Tigers.
