The Responsible Disposal of Flame Retarded Foam and Plastic
Nov. 12-13, 2015
Arlington, VA, USA
UC Berkeley and the Green Science Policy Institute will host a 2-day participatory
workshop to explore research needs and opportunities for responsible end-of-life disposal
of consumer products containing foam and plastic mixed with flame retardants.
Participants will include scientists, engineers, policy experts, waste management
professionals, and environmental health advocates.
The workshop’s objectives are to:
- Identify knowledge gaps and research needs to develop responsible disposal solutions for flame-retarded foams and plastics.
- Form relationships across disciplines that will facilitate execution of these research proposals.
- Publish a report on the workshop’s findings and outcomes.
