L.D.W.F. Issues a Reminder About New Regulations for Vermilion Snapper
Posted: 4/27/06

In December 2005, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission passed a rule modifying regulations on the harvest of vermilion snapper in Louisiana state waters.

The minimum size for vermilion snapper for both recreational and commercial harvesters was increased to 11 inches.

An annual closed season was established for commercial harvesters from April 22 through May 31 of each year.

Vermilion snapper remain part of a 20 fish per person aggregate bag limit for vermilion, lane, gray triggerfish, almaco jack, goldface tilefish, tilefish, blackline tilefish, anchor tilefish and blueline tilefish. However, not more than 10 vermilion snapper per person may be included in that bag limit.
