Fort Pike State Historic Site in Orleans Parish to Get New Boat Ramp
Posted: 3/7/06

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) will assist the Office of State Parks with funding the construction of a new boat ramp facility at Fort Pike State Historic Site in Orleans Parish.

Under the federal Wallop-Breaux Boating Access grant program administered by LDWF, the Office of State Parks can receive up to $263,250 or 75 percent of the total project cost. Project construction should be completed by the end of 2006.

Because the existing ramp facility is in disrepair and considered unsafe, it will be closed in preparation for construction of the new facility. Both the department and the Office of State Parks regret this short-term inconvenience.
