2005 Louisiana Fall Shrimp Season Opens in Portion of Zone 2
Posted: 7/25/05

The fall inshore shrimp season will open in that portion of Shrimp Management Zone 2 from the eastern shore of South Pass of the Mississippi River to the Atchafalaya River Ship Channel at Eugene Island as delineated by the channel red buoy line at sunrise on Monday, Aug. 1, 2005 and close on Dec. 20, 2005 at sunset.

Shrimpers should be advised that the remaining portion of Zone 2 as well as additional state waters may soon reopen to shrimping provided additional biological data indicate that the majority of shrimp reach marketable sizes. Unless the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries utilizes its temporary authority to reopen other state inside waters, season dates for the fall inshore shrimp season in Zones 1 and 3 will be considered by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission (LWFC) at its Aug. 4 meeting scheduled for 9:30 am at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) building in Baton Rouge.
