Clarence & Ann Cazalot GeauxTeach Scholarships
The Clarence & Ann Cazalot GeauxTeach Scholarships are designated for students in the LSU College of Science. These scholarships are one-time $1,000 awards for a GeauxTeach full-time junior and a senior with at least a 3.0 GPA and are awarded in the spring. The scholarships were created with a generous gift from the Cazalots who are deeply committed to providing outstanding educational opportunities to LSU students. Carol Meyer Scholarship Award
The Louisiana Association of Teachers of Mathematics is pleased to honor the memory of Carol Meyer, an elementary school mathematics teacher who died unexpectedly at an early age. Carol loved mathematics and was a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. She was an outstanding math teacher and a fervent worker on the LATM executive board. She was always generous in sharing her love of math with her students and fellow teachers. In Carol's memory, the Louisiana Association of Teachers of Mathematics is pleased to award two $500.00 scholarships each year to college upperclassmen with a declared major in elementary education, mathematics education, or mathematics. In addition to the scholarship, the awardees shall receive complimentary LATM student memberships. It is our hope that another future outstanding mathematics teacher or mathematician will be helped along the way by this award. Applicants must be a college undergraduate with at least 40 hours completed prior to applying, have a declared major in elementary education, mathematics education, or mathematics, and have an anticipated graduation date after May 2020. Meyer Applications must be submitted by April 10, 2020.
McNair Research Scholars
McNair Research Scholars, administered through LSU University College, provides undergraduate research internships and graduate school application assistance for students who would be the first in their family to complete college, students who are from a background of financial need, and students from ethnic groups underrepresented in graduate education. An ideal candidate for the McNair Research Scholars program is an eligible sophomore or junior student with a 2.8 GPA or higher, and is interested in research and pursuing a graduate education or is currently working in a research lab and could benefit from more funding and graduate school preparation services. The TEACH Grant program was created to assist in the development and recruitment of teachers for high need programs in public or private elementary or secondary schools that serve low income families.
